Golubac &#8211; Golubac Fortress &#8211; Beg Bunar karst spring begins in the Tumane Monastery dedicated to the Archangel Gabriel. This endowment of Milo\u0161 Obili\u0107 was built in the Serbian-Byzantine style, shortly before the Battle of Kosovo. The Tumane Monastery is famous for its sacred relics, the relics of Saint Zosim of Sinai and Saint James the New, a disciple of Saint Bishop Nikolai, and a miraculous icon of Mother-of-God of Kursk \u2013 the gift of Russian monks. Just a kilometer from the Tumane Monastery, there is a Natural Monument \u201cTufa Accumulation near Tumane Monastery\u201d.<\/p><p>The special feature of this natural monument is the hermitage of Saint Zosim of Sinai carved in the tufa, a spring with a fountain whose water is attributed to miraculous healing properties, a large number of cascades, overflows and tufa pools and an old beech-oak forest. Golubac is located 6.5 km away from Natural Monument \u201cTufa Accumulation near Tumane Monastery\u201d and 9.7 km from the Tumane Monastery. Here the Danube is the widest in its course. 3 km downstream from Golubac, following the main road, there is the Golubac Fortress, a medieval military border fortification, projected and built on a military-strategic important location. Only the Green Zone is available to all categories of visitors. Within the complex, there is a hiking trail \u201cPut ruja i jorgovana\u201d (Trail of sumac and lilac) 1.8 km long, which stretches on the slopes above the Golubac Fortress.<\/p><p>The Beg Bunar karst spring is a genuine oasis next to the main road, 2.4 km downstream from the Golubac Fortress. Legends are responsible for the unusual name of the spring. According to one legend, an ill Turkish nobleman (with a title of bey\/beg) from the suburbs of the Golubac Fortress was healed with the help of the water from this spring. According to the another legend, the name of the spring derives from the Serbian word for the \u201eescape\u201c of water, i.e. significant reduction in spring yield during dry periods. Research conducted before the Second World War determined that part of the source of the river Pek plunges deep into the Homolje Mountains into limestone cracks and through tens of kilometers of caves and underground canals, cooled by rocks and enriched in minerals, water springs at this
