European Geoparks Network
Members of European Geoparks Network are the part of Global Geoparks Network under patronage of UNESCO
European Geoparks Network was founded in 2000, with the aim to promote geoheritage, conservation of geological and geomorphological diversity and support to geopark economical development, and above all geotourism development.
It deals with the promotion of geoparks and their natural and cultural heritage.
In addition to protecting and promoting geological heritage, the main goal of the European Geoparks Network is to connect European states in order to exchange examples of good practice, information and experience in the process of protecting geological heritage and promote a holistic approach to nature protection.
Members of European Geoparks Network are the part of Global Geoparks Network, founded in 2004, under patronage of UNESCO.
Global Geoparks Network supports cooperation between geoparks, their joint activities, exchanging and raising of quality standards geoparks’ products and practices in accordance with UNESCO guidelines for the protection and the conservation of World Heritage properties.
